Hi!
I'm Elizabeth, creator of Project Good Dogs and manager of all the things (social, website, event and processing schedule, order fulfillment, etc...), and this is Jared, my husband, our lead trainer and treat processing extraordinaire.
Our Journey
The idea for Project Good Dogs started in 2019, in a tiny apartment kitchen in California trying to make the best treats for our dogs. 2,200 miles, three kitchens, and two years later, we were finally able to start bringing those same treats to other dog owners (2021). We were just getting started then. Now, we carry 25 treat and chew options from 6 protein and 3 plant based sources (as of 2026). There have been a few setbacks over the years, running a small business is no small effort, but we're proud to bring you and your dogs the highest quality treats around.
Humble Beginnings
In 2019, while living in a 750 square foot apartment in California, we made the decision to bring home a Belgian Malinois puppy.
Meet Korra.
The most amazing dog I have ever owned, Jared's first ever dog, and the reason all of this started.
All puppies are hard, but Korra being a Malinois taught us many lessons. Jared became fascinated by canine behavior, communication, and training. While I became interested in canine nutrition.
We invested a lot of money in food and treats and while reading the back of every new bag of training treats I thought, there had to be a better, more affordable way.
A small dehydrator and a couple new cutting boards later, I was making our own.
What started as a way to make more affordable treats for our own dogs turned into a desire to bring that to others. I began experimenting with different cuts of meat, slice thickness, and dehydration times to create treats that were easy to use during training and made with simple, high-quality ingredients.
New Chapters
Around the same time, Jared and I made a big life decision. We loved living in Los Angeles, but we knew we eventually wanted a home with enough space for our dogs to really run. So in 2020 we packed up our lives and moved 2,200 miles back to Georgia, where we both grew up.
Like many people, our plans changed a lot that year. I lost my job during the early months of the pandemic, and what was originally meant to be a small weekend project suddenly became something I had the time and motivation to build seriously.
Along the way, our pack grew too. We welcomed another Belgian Malinois, Zuko, whose arrival brought a lot of joy… and temporarily slowed down progress on the business.
In 2021 we were officially up and running, growing at a steady comfortable pace through Farmer's Markets and weekend events. Then late 2022, Jared was laid off from his job, and we made the scariest decision: we went all in on Project Good Dogs.
With both of us working on production and attending events, the business grew even faster, sometimes faster than felt comfortable.
Today you can still find us at farmers markets and events, fulfilling online orders, and working on our newest addition: dog training.
Training is a skill Jared developed with our own dogs over the years, and now uses that experience to help other owners and their dogs build better, happier lives together.
Our Promise
Affordability. Healthy. Minimally Processed. Training-Focused Design.
These are the principles I wanted to bring to the table when I started Project Good Dogs, and they continue to guide everything we do.
From the very beginning, our goal has been simple: create treats we feel good about feeding our own dogs and sharing with yours. That means focusing on high-quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and treats that actually serve a purpose during training and enrichment.
Project Good Dogs started with one very demanding puppy and a small dehydrator in a tiny kitchen. Everything we’ve built since then is guided by the same idea that started it all: an affordable simple alternative that feels good in your hand and is an effective treat for training.
No matter how much we grow or how challenging things get, these values will remain the foundation of Project Good Dogs.
Our Training
Our Training Programs focus on the relationship between you and your dog. There's no one size fits all class, they're custom built for you and your dog's situation. Every dog is an individual with specific needs, and so are you. We work with you to help you understand what's going on under the surface and fix the issues at the root of the problem.
Treats that make an Impact.
Made with care and loved by our dogs, we're confident yours will too.
