Our Training Philosphy

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all training. It’s important to acknowledge that every dog is an individual with their own emotional thresholds, genetics, and learning history. Similarly, every household has different schedules, family dynamics, and expectations for their dogs.  Our approach instills clear communication, structured engagement, and evidence-based behavior modification, while educating owners on basic learning theory, canine body language, and adaptive problem solving. In the end, we produce reliable results without relying on intimidation, pain, or gimmicks.

Having an out of control, reactive, or just poorly-mannered dog can range from stressful to downright debilitating. We employ an empathy-based approach to help alleviate stress and anxiety at both ends of the leash. Our goal isn’t pure obedience. We want to help build a safer, happier, and more resilient dog and coach you to be a more confident, capable guardian and handler.

Puppy Foundations

You and your dog will get the basics, like “sit”, and “down”, and you'll learn about luring, treats (and other rewards) and clicker training with a little bit of dog psychology thrown in for good measure during this one-on-one obedience class.

One-on-one means we’ll go at you and your dog’s pace. No worrying about being ahead or behind others in a group class. If you’re picking things up quickly, we’ll cover more. If you or your dog need more time with a concept, we’ll spend as much as we need.

Good Manners

Our Good Manners course is an obedience class for dogs 6 months and older who need a little refresher on their manners. We’ll work one-on-one together to reinforce some standard manners like staying on all 4 paws when meeting someone new, walking on the leash without pulling you everywhere, and get started on some neutrality to different environments.

One-on-one means we’ll go at you and your dog’s pace. No worrying about being ahead or behind others in a group class. If you’re picking things up quickly, we’ll cover more. If you or your dog need more time or just want to focus on a particular issue, we’ll spend as much as we need.

This class is not suited for dogs with significant behavioral issues such as: a bite history, charging at other dogs or people, resource guarding, or reactivity. We're more than ready to help you with these issues, but due to their serious nature and the skill set required to address them, they fall under our Behavior Modification program.

Behavior Modification

Some problems are bigger than an obedience class can handle. If your dog struggles with reactivity towards other dogs or people (barking, charging, etc), resource guarding, aggression towards people or other dogs, or any other concerning issue that has you anxious to take them out of the house (or even issues inside the house), we’ve got the know-how to help.

Regardless of whether your dog’s issues are caused by fear, lack of confidence, over-stimulation, or something else, we’ll get to the root of the problem and help you build a path to a safer and more comfortable relationship with your dog.

Because of the serious nature and risk involved with most behavior modification cases we require an assessment before scheduling working sessions. We’ll come to you in order to see your dog where they are the most comfortable and where the problems are happening.

After your assessment, if you choose to move forward with us, we’ll create a program just for you and your situation. We’ll also discuss an initial management plan, so you can get started right away.

Typical behavior modification sessions cost between $125 and $250 per session depending on the severity of the issues and travel. Discounts are available for session bundles.
